Overview

The Scrum Master II is a servant leader that supports the development team and product owner to increase business agility and maximize value delivered.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Guide and coach the Scrum Teams on how to apply agile values and principles, and use the Scrum Framework on implementations
  • Protect the development team from outside influences and remove impediments for Scrum Team progress
  • Coach the team to self-manage to ensure Sprint objectives are met
  • Empower the team to be self-organized
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, with respect to Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management
  • Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure product backlog is visible, clear, concise and prioritized towards incremental business value that meet the Definition of Done
  • Facilitate various Scrum events such as: Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Work collaboratively with the Scrum Team to transition product roadmap initiatives into great experiences for our customers
  • Work with the Product Owner and Development team to manage and track overall project health including cost, schedule and quality and Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) and create management reports and metrics, including velocity and burn down
  • Manage portfolio and program financials, create purchase requisitions / orders and track actuals against monthly forecasts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendor resources, vendor management, development teams, stakeholder and senior management. Establishes a reliable communication channel with all stakeholders
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Must exhibit strong applied knowledge of agile frameworks and principles including Scrum from multiple teams/products
  • Demonstrated evidence of a servant leadership mindset
  • Proficient in the use of Agile delivery tools such as VersionOne, Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated evidence of continuous learning mindset
  • Proven track record of project execution in a large and complex business environment, completing and shipping excellent products on time and on budget

Skills

  • Good understanding of product and sprint backlog tracking, burn down metrics and velocity
  • Ability to coach on Agile, Scrum, at a level accessible to beginners and dive deep for advanced topics
  • Advanced interpersonal, presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Good negotiation and leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to listen well, facilitate, guide an understand and diverse viewpoints
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and work independently on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, collaborating with business stakeholders, product and project managers, development and vendor teams
  • High Emotional Intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills)
  • Ability to operate with the utmost integrity and consistently display a positive attitude to work
  • A change agent; progressively challenging the team to continuously improve and cultivate a culture of innovation and learning

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience required

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience working in a digital environment in a leadership role required
  • 3-5 years project management experience required
  • 2-3 years experience as Scrum Master required
  • 3-5 years financial services experince preferred

Licenses

  • Scrum Master Certification (CSM or PSM) or PMI-ACP preferred

Working Conditions

  • Normal office enviornment, ability to effectively work remotely 
  • Subject to stressful situations
  • Possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime may be required
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
