  • Overview

    The Endpoint Protection Manager, under general direction from the department VP or AVP, will assist in the planning, design, implementation, and support of endpoint security platforms. The EPP Manager is responsible primarily for the assessment and optimization of End-User security tools used to secure endpoint devices such as workstations and servers. The EPP Manager is also responsible for maintaining appropriate enterprise toolsets needed to support the End-User Computing environment. They are also responsible for conducting feasibility studies for large projects, developing requests for proposal, evaluating vendor products, and making recommendations on selection. The EPP Manager will directly manage Engineers providing guidance, direction and specific task delegation as needed.

    Responsibilities

    JOB DUTIES

    • Provide direction and guidance for Endpoint protection technologies
    • Ensure the global end user computing platforms are being protected while also insuring high performance and reliability of the end user platforms
    • Effectively communicates current status of all projects, problems, and issues to the department VP or AVP's
    • Plan, architect, design, document and implement end user computing security platforms, enterprise software, and peripheral upgrades to improve endpoint protection services provided to business clients
    • Perform proof of concepts as appropriate to confirm and refine designs or examine new toolsets
    • Work closely with End User Computing technology and Cyber Security management emphasizing collaboration and joint effort to ensure that the needs and expectations of organizational stake holders, business partners, external customers, and third party organizations are met and/or exceeded
    • Study and analyze the performance and capacities of the systems and peripheral equipment/systems and prepare plans for future expansion and upgrades
    • Maintain security systems for the global organization by ensuring that systems (servers and endpoint clients) are secure, operational and compliant
    • Ensure his team is resolving incident management tickets as they arise and ensure timely resolution to meet any department service level objectives
    • Author policy, procedure and standards documents based on industry best practices and personal research and experience
    • Evaluate and install system patches and application updates as directed to ensure end-user endpoints are secured
    • Development of goals, objectives, and unit work plans in coordination with the IT strategic planning process
    • Delegate tasks as appropriate to junior engineers and ensure all tasks are completed correctly and efficiently
    • Execute operational support of corporate, branch and service center operations and all associated desktop hardware and software

     

    Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model and ip sub-netting
    • Advanced understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and processes
    • High level understanding of technology infrastructure, security concepts and platforms
    • Infrastructure design and management
    • Knowledge and stay abreast on the latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities
    • Knowledge of IT security processes and controls as well as IT infrastructure and networking technical knowledge
    • Local and wide area networking concepts, principles and protocols
    • Strong understanding of application layer protocols including HTTP, SSH, SSL, and DNS
    • Working knowledge of management processes such as personnel administration, planning and budgeting
    • Knowledge of security practices across multiple OS platforms
    • Advanced knowledge of desktop virtualization technologies and hardware

    Skills

    • Experience in documentation tools such as Visio, Project and Microsoft Office products
    • Information security standards/frameworks (ie NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO) skills
    • IT security processes and controls knowledge as well as IT infrastructure and networking technical knowledge
    • Strong technical writing

    Education

    • High School Diploma required
    • Associate Degree in computer operations or networking required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred

    Experience

    • 7-10 years in ITS or Cyber Security required
    • 5-7 years in a supervisor or lead capacity preferred
