  • Overview

    ​The Collections Support Clerk I performs general office duties and supports broader servicing efforts in the collections department. This team member has contact with other Company departments, Vendors and outside agencies.

    Responsibilities

    JOB DUTIES

    • Ensure actions are in compliance with policies and procedures
    • Meet deadlines and complete assigned task and accuracy
    • Initiate and share ideas for process and quality improvements
    • Submit all pertinent documentation to imaging in a timely and accurate manner
    • Document and update the department's systems of record
    • Receive, assemble and distribute inbound and outbound mail
    • Attend and actively participate in training sessions and team/department meetings
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems
    • Basic software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Lotus, Access, Internet, Email)
    • Customer service strategies and techniques (e.g., handling customer complaints, checking for customer satisfaction)
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access, and Project
    • Basic knowledge of general office procedures
    • Office equipment (e.g., printers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, etc.)
    • In-depth knowledge of GM Financial operations, policies, staff, and procedures
    • Thorough understanding of corporate secretarial and general office procedures

    Skills

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Handling confidential matters and information
    • Operating basic office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, phone, etc.)
    • Using basic software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Lotus, Access, Internet, Email)
    • Advanced grammar, spelling and proofreading skills
    • Accurate typing, 10-key and word processing skills
    • Ability to type 60 WPM
    • Advanced and accurate typing and word processing skills, with the ability to type 70+ WPM
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, and exercise discretion relating to the performance of day-to-day duties
    • Ability to make routine arithmetic computations and tabulations with speed and accuracy
    • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees
    • Excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

    Education

    • High School or equivalent required

    Experience

    • 0-2 Years ​ Previous experience in collections or finance

      Experience performing general office duties Preferred

    Work Condition

    • Occasional overtime or split shifts may be required;Fast-paced office environment;Subject to daily service level requirements
