  • Overview

    ​The Fleet Credit Manager assists the Fleet Credit AVP, manages all commercial credit line functions and supports the implementation of CVL systems initiatives, underwriting guidelines new product development and policies. Responsible for training CVL Fleet credit personnel on credit policy issues and underwriting of commercial lines of credit. Provides guidance and strategy for meeting department objectives. Additionally, this position will contribute to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.

    Responsibilities

    JOB DUTIES

    • Assists in developing CVL capabilities for establishing and managing Commercial Lines of Credit while continually exhibiting established GM Financial leadership competencies
    • Assists in developing new CVL Line of Credit products, processes and procedures
    • Manages all aspects of credit underwriting and loan documentation related to establishing and renewing Lines of Credit for CVL commercial customers
    • Makes credit decisions wihtin assigned approval credit authority and recommends decisions to Fleet Credit-AVP on approvals outside credit authority
    • Assists in creation and implementation of CVL policies, procedures and underwriting guidelines and supports the installation and testing of GM Financial's commercial loan decision system
    • Assists CVL team members with credit policy and pricing interpretations and ensures compliance with applicable policies and procedures
    • Oversees development, maintenance of dealer relationships that ensure volume objectives and credit quality
    • Manages all aspects of CVL Municipal Finance Program
    • Recruits and assists with training of Commercial Vehicle Lending Fleet credit team; provides career development through coaching, mentoring and assessing individual performance
    • Monitors Lines of Credit portfolio performance communicating issues and opportunities to CVL Management and Sales as appropriate
    • Reviews credit exceptions and determines their approval or denial within established credit authority
    • Assumes the duties of the Fleet Credit-AVP in his/her absence and performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Advanced knowledge of credit underwriting
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of dealership, fleet/commercial and indirect auto finance industry operations and dealer floor plan financing
    • Advanced knowledge of reporting and analytics
    • Advanced knowledge of Salesforce.com
    • Extensive knowledge of accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow and dealer workout
    • Understanding of commercial lending with emphasis in captive automotive dealership financing
    • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
    • Understanding of dealer operations

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree ​ in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration required

    Experience

    • 7-10 years ​in a commercial credit underwriting and/or a commercial credit management role; experience with commercial lending authority/decisioning preferred
