  • Overview

    BASIC FUNCTION:

    The Vendor Compliance Analyst is responsible for proactively and independently recognizing, assessing and documenting vendor adherence to company, state and federal regulatory requirements.  This includes the responsibility for the development and maintenance of assessment guidelines and documents utilized to monitor vendor compliance-based activity.  Assessments include both remote and onsite evaluations.  The team member is responsible for independently performing vendor assessments and reporting compliance findings and recommendations.  The team member must utilize their knowledge and experience to evaluate and communicate all findings in a timely and organized manner directly to the Vendor Compliance leadership team.  

    Responsibilities

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Document vendor compliance standards and disseminate standards to appropriate internal business stakeholders.
    • Identify and address areas of vendor non-compliance that could potentially impact business results, financial reporting and expose GM Financial to additional compliance and regulatory risk.
    • Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to establish and schedule vendor assessments. 
    • Perform remote and onsite vendor assessments with a consistent level of quality and accuracy.
    • Provide timely and accurate assessments with the ability to articulate areas of non-compliance. 
    • Identify items for remediation and offer recommendations for improvement.
    • Prepare appropriate confidential communications and ensure the integrity of information provided.
    • Analyze risks associated with using a vendor on current and future outsourcing projects and communicate the compliance impacts to Vendor Compliance leadership and the business units.
    • Proactively participate in developing cross-functional knowledge of various types of vendors.
    • Foster open communication and information sharing within the department to ensure all team members are knowledgeable of regulatory compliance areas, department standards, responsibilities, goals and initiatives.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    Knowledge:     

    • Thorough understanding of GM Financial policies and procedures preferred.
    • General knowledge of audit processes.
    • General knowledge of business unit operations.
    • Basic understanding of state and federal laws and regulations governing the finance and collection industries preferred.
    • Basic understanding of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau examination procedures preferred.

     

    Skills:      

    • Ability to work independently/strong self-management skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to use appropriate judgment, analysis, and logic when solving problems and providing recommendations.
    • Ability to evaluate and maintain a high level of professional skepticism.
    • Proficient with PC software applications such as Word, Excel and Access.
    • Detail oriented and excellent writing and documentation skills.
    • Excellent listening skills.

     

    Experience:      

    • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience.
    • Experience reviewing complex documents or concepts preferred.
    • Supporting Senior Level Management in a corporate environment preferred.
    • 2-4 years Financial Services experience required; Quality Assurance or Internal Auditing Experience preferred.

     

    WORK CONDITION:

    Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs. Travel is required and may be as much as two weeks during a month.
