  • Overview

    The Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Support Analyst is responsible for supporting the AVP EHSS in the effort to develop and implement enterprise-wide EHSS programming throughout the company’s North America operating footprint. The Support Analyst is responsible for performing technical work in a wide range of environmental disciplines, to achieve compliance with the organization’s Environmental Health and Safety standards and federal, state and local regulatory requirements. The Support Analyst will also facilitate the company’s sustainability programming in partnership with business units and other support functions.



    • Plan and implement procedures, programs and file regulatory reports in compliance with federal, state, local and GMF Corporate requirements.

    • Develop and update EHSS manuals for all GMF NA facilities to include copies of all regulatory filings, permits, licenses, fee payments and training certifications.

    • Assist AVP EHSS with development and attainment of annual departmental goals in accordance with key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that are tracked throughout the organization.

    • Assist in the implementation and training of GMF employees to meet safety standards, and to enhance the company’s safety culture.

    • Assist the AVP EHSS with facility inspections and safety audits, to detect existing or potential incidents and health hazards.

    • Assist in the development of the contractor safety program, and develop methodology for tracking contractor incidents and accidents.

    • Assist the Facilities Chief Engineer in resolving emergency issues related to mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) malfunctions.

    • Provide regular reports to the AVP EHSS regarding compliance status, associated costs, and the results of audits and inspections.

    • Promote safe work practices on all critical systems and MEP equipment.

    • Assist in the development of annual sustainability goals and metrics.

    • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations designed to provide updates on progress toward sustainability goals.

    • Prepare graphs, charts, and statistical models from synthesized data, using knowledge of mathematical, statistical, and engineering analysis techniques.

    • Partner with the Communications department to develop messaging to drive awareness and understanding of sustainability programming and achievements.

    • General knowledge of contemporary EHSS processes and principles.
    • In-depth knowledge of EHSS assessment and analysis tools.
    • Basic knowledge of building facilities/engineering design and principles.
    • Knowledge of governmental workplace safety regulations and guidelines.
    • Knowledge required to plan and prioritize programs that ensure compliance and continual improvement.
    • Basic knowledge of real estate due diligence and site acquisition practices.
    • Basic knowledge of sustainability and current conservation practices.



    • Strong data analysis and data interpretation skills.
    • Ability to develop spreadsheets, charts and graphs.
    • Ability to develop and extract information for pivot tables.
    • Ability to work within a culture of teamwork and effective collaboration within the EHSS team and with key stakeholder groups.
    • Ability to attend to detail while maintaining a “big-picture” orientation
    • Advanced computer skills; experience with MS Office required



    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainable building and operations, occupational safety, environmental health or related field preferred.
    • 4+ years increasingly responsible experience working within complex EHSS and engineering functions and the internal and external teams that perform them in a multi-facility, geographically diverse environment.
    • Experience resolving issues related to building engineering solutions (e.g. mechanical, electrical and plumbing).
    • Experience with contemporary principles of environmental stewardship, including energy and water use, recycling, composting, air quality, etc.
    • Experience working within a diverse professional staff in a multi-functional unit with a strong commitment to customer service.
    • Experience working within change programs and service delivery models, with an appreciation for balancing approaches and initiatives that meet short-term and long-term goals.



    • Normal office environment, subject to stressful situations. Up to 25% travel required.
    • 24/7 availability to assist with emergencies that impact the company’s workplace safety, facility systems, and business continuity.
