  • Overview

    The Sr. Cognos Developer position, under limited supervision, provides advanced support for Oracle E-business Suite acting as an internal Functional/Technical analyst resource. This includes, but is not limited to, gathering business report requirements, assisting business partners with user acceptance testing, communication, documentation, training, report testing and end-user production supportThe Sr. Cognos Developer resource will work with Cognos developers to support all aspects of business analytics and reporting. Technical skills required include a solid understanding of the Oracle ERP table structures using basic to advanced SQL select statements, provide adequate data issue resolution with detailed documentation and anticipate business partner's questions and provide solutions to answer analytics and reporting questions. This employee has heavy contact with other business departments, as well as, outside vendors in support of international IT operations.                         

    Responsibilities

    Job Duties

    • Plan, organize and direct the implementation and/or development of supported applications in accordance with strategic business plans and industry standards on multiple large projects
    • Responsible for analyzing and resolving functional/technical problems of supported applications and user needs. Document the requirements, implement solutions following the GMF Software Development Lifecycle methodology
    • Revise existing systems as necessary
    • Revise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time and form of desired results
    • Assist with the creation, documentation and execution of test scripts for supported systems
    • Research, implement and document solutions to issues identified during testing
    • Monitor scheduled application interfaces and provide issue resolution
    • Interface with software vendors and suppliers in support of business applications
    • Coordinate with program development teams on software interfaces used by supported business applications
    • Provide direction to and mentor other teammates
    • Communicate with management and business partners on business systems and project status
    • Work closely with internal business units to facilitate project completion

    Qualifications

    Knowledge

    • Oracle R Financial eBusiness Suite modules (GL, AP, AME, SLA, FA, PAY, WF, CE, PO, iProc, iExp and AR Lite).
    • Accounting Knowledge, GAAP and IFRS.
    • AIM Methodology and Project Management Lifecyle knowledge.
    • Excellent Proactive Planning and Initiative in success of all project and support efforts.
    • SQL Select and Advanced SQL.
    • Advanced knowledge of business processes for supported business groups
    • Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure and operations
    • Advanced working knowledge of information systems and operations systems for supported business groups
    • Knowledge of GM Financials core business functions, policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of security methodologies, policies, standards and best practices
    • Knowledgeable of best practices in information technology governance and regulatory landscape for financial institutions
    • Significant experience in a large and complex business environment
    • Working knowledge of the Corporate Business solution environment

    Skills

    • Ability to effectively lead, organize, and supervise
    • Ability to interact with staff at all levels
    • Ability to meet expected delivery dates and the tasks necessary to achieve objectives
    • Ability to work directly with senior level management
    • Advanced ability to create and work RFC and SR tickets with Oracle On Demand, Oracle Managed Cloud Services and Oracle Support
    • Excellent writing and speaking skills
    • Must be a self-starter and able to manage the investigations function with minimal supervision
    • Strong ability to analyze data using Excel for reporting and data mining purposes
    • Strong in the use of Microsoft Office software

     

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Information Systems or Accounting preferred

    Work Experience

    • Greater than 10 years of implementation and support on ERP system as a functional resource preferred
    • 3 years in leadership required
    • 5 or more years experience in Accounting and 5 or more years as functional resource implementing and supporting ERP systems for the Finance modules.
