  • Overview

    The Special Assets Analyst II is responsible for the daily monitoring and maintenance of GM Financial's non-general population, non-pass, non-performing, and other high risk or high exposure accounts as assigned to Special Assets. The Special Assets Analyst II is also responsible for supporting the on-going risk mitigation activities associated with GM Financial's portfolio, particularly with respect to high-risk or troubled accounts. This position will utilize data from the inventory audit management system, in conjunction with monthly Operating Reports and other available data, to identify and evaluate the risk associated with assigned dealers, recommend corrective action plans, and execute plans as approved by management.  


    Job Duties

    • Support all aspects of problem account handling, including non-general population, SOT, bankrupt, and liquidating dealerships.
    • Compile, analyze, and distribute pertinent data to CLS management and sales personnel.
    • Prepare and distribute reporting on Special Assets activities and other reporting as required.
    • Coordinate and make arrangements for on-site lender representatives.
    • Analyze dealerships’ Operating Reports in conjunction with inventory audits and/or due diligence audit results to mitigate risk within the portfolio.
    • Identify problem accounts and recommend corrective action plans.
    • Manage assigned high risk, non-Pass, and non-Performing accounts.
    • Assist in the performance of due diligence audits, either on-site or remotely.



    • Knowledge of commercial lending with emphasis in captive automotive dealership financing.
    • Knowledge of automotive accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow, and dealer workout.
    • Knowledge and understanding of dealership operations.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


    • Strong analytical background.
    • Knowledge of financial and legal processes and principles associated with commercial lending to dealerships.
    • Ability to analyze and recommend appropriate steps to be taken in SOT or workout situations.
    • Sense of urgency.
    • Attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with dealership personnel, guarantors, third party vendors, GMF legal, OEMs, etc.
    • Interact constructively within reporting structure of GM Financial and across organizational boundaries.


    • Bachelor's Degree in related field required


    • 2-3 years captive automotive commercial lending experience preferred
    • Experience in managing a commercial lending portfolio, preferably in automotive commercial lending environment preferred

    Work Condition

    • Work schedule may include some nights, weekends, or holidays
    • Commercial Lending is a high energy and fast paced department subject to stressful conditions.
