  • Overview

    ​The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the training and daily direction of departmental personnel, prioritization of work assignments and work load balancing within the group.  This team member is responsible for the completion and review of various account reconciliations and review of reports distributed to management.  The Accounting Supervisor interacts with internal departments, external parties, and auditors.



    • Direct the activities of the general ledger area.
    • Review general ledger.
    • Prepare and approve accounting entries.
    • Review monthly account reconciliations
    • Prepare / review daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
    • Participate in special projects as necessary.
    • Provide guidance on the operation of the general ledger system
    • Promote a cooperative and productive work environment while developing and mentoring accounting staff
    • Develop and enhance processes and controls to maintain the integrity of GM Financial's financial reporting systems.
    • Provide analytical support as requested to Financial Reporting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis and other business groups.



    • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
    • Understand software development processes
    • Understand how to develop and execute a test script and document findings
    • Working knowledge of account reconciliations
    • Working knowledge understanding of financial statements
    • Working knowledge of automated financial systems
    • Working knowledge of the Accounting Standards Codification
    • Strong background with automated accounting systems
    • Working knowledge of the accounts payable process
    • Knowledge of SOX 404 Accounts Payable Control review
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Access Database
    • Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies and Application Development Life Cycles
    • Knowledge of Oracle reporting tools required (i.e. Discoverer)

    • Ability to transform business, technical, and functional requirements into test scripts
    • Experience with financial reporting tools and database query tools
    • Detailed oriented
    • Advance knowledge of Excel
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently
    • Ability to lead, coach and mentor team members
    • Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions
    • Possess the skills necessary to operate various office equipment
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong computer skills
    • Advanced skills in creating ad hoc queries and reporting
    • Good Leadership skills


    • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting/Finance or related experience required


    • 5-7 Years experience in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis Required
