Overview

The Business Process Manager – Treasury will conduct meetings, document requirements and oversee development, testing and implementation of various projects for the Securitization and Conduit Reporting team including acting as key liaison with other departments and outside vendors. This manager will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and create efficient and effective methods to support the implementation of ongoing business process improvements and promote greater alignment between teams. Throughout this process the manager will develop and maintain clear and effective documentation. The Business Process Manager will also ensure that all business teams share a common understanding of key business processes.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Effectively identify issues that matter most to the business or department, collect information and make sound recommendations while proactively challenging the status quo.
  • Conduct and/or participate in meetings with different teams throughout the organization to develop a solid understanding of upcoming and ongoing projects and the associated impact to the departments.
  • Translate complex requirements into business requirements/functional specifications documents in coordination with the data warehouse teams.
  • Review software, technical, and functional requirements to ensure department requirements are thoroughly documented.
  • Lead and facilitate system enhancement projects, including the development of business requirements, functional requirements, user acceptance testing scripts/execution, timelines, and management presentations.
  • Accountable for tracking, monitoring and follow-up on the progress of key initiatives, action items.
  • Preemptively identifies opportunities for improvements and implements solutions to existing processes, databases, and reports and for automation of time consuming tasks.
  • Partners with leadership in driving process change, implementing changes, and ensures impacts to business are understood and accepted.
  • Develop automation of data verifications incorporating checks for exceptions, inconsistencies, tolerance levels, business rules, and valid output.
  • Establishes, cultivates and maintains ongoing relationships within Securitization and Conduit Reporting, IT, and other areas of the business and ensures a clear understanding of operational objectives relative to projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate production issues (describing issue, resolutions, and status) with both the business and the IT team in a timely manner.
  • Coach, mentor and assist team members to establish a consistent level of quality, accuracy, compliance to departmental standards.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:

  • Understand GM Financial’s systems and processes and how systems interface.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to: AVP-Investor Reporting Treasury       

Direct Reports: 1-2

Qualifications

Knowledge:  

  • Advanced working knowledge and understanding of the data warehouse and its impact to reporting and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of a formal methodology for technology process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of project methodology.      
  • Strong coaching and guiding skills in the area of process improvement.      
  • Working knowledge of Project Management Methodologies.    
  • Working knowledge of corporate policies and standards.      
  • Strong customer service focus.      
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.      
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Visio or comparable process flow design tools.

Skills:      

  • Possess critical thinking, technical and analytical skills with an ability to evaluate complex problems and issues quickly and accurately in order to recommend or take the most appropriate course of action.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks based on business requirements.
  • Ability to lead process improvement or technical writing projects.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple groups, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong mediation skills - must have the ability to weigh multiple stakeholder perspectives, escalate issues, and partner with manager to drive timely and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to quickly grasp how a process works, and leverage that knowledge to obtain the team's goals.
  • Ability to plan, execute and improve work processes to ensure achievement of business objectives.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to convey pertinent information to different leadership groups.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business process management.
  • Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record of collaborating and identifying solutions in support cross departmental business workflow.
  • Minimum of a BS/BA degree; preferably in the field of business or management.
  • Experience in Asset Backed Securitization reporting a plus.

 

WORK CONDITION:

Work is conducted in a professional office environment. Typically subject to stressful situations arising from set project timelines, delivery deadlines, and managing multiple projects and priorities
