This position functions as a part of GM Financial’s Talent Acquisition team as an integrated resource partnering with the various department functions. Through collaboration the Field Talent Advisor will identify and build partnerships to determine and implement a uniform employment brand strategy, ultimately delivering a viable talent pipeline and driving GMF to become an employer of choice. The Field Talent Advisor will assist all facets of full cycle recruitment and complete special projects as needed.



  • Research, recommend, and implement strategies that align department priorities to that of the organization with the goal of enhancing the GMF employer brand and improving the candidate experience.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the business’s vision goals and strategies. Translate broad strategies into specific actions plans to drive engagement events, achieve TA objectives, and improve business results.
  • Perform competitive research and analysis as needed.
  • Meet regularly with business leaders to foster open communication that welcomes information sharing, seeks input, and values diverse viewpoints.
  • Develop and maintain relationships including but not limited to the following people or groups: academic faculty, career office employees, students, military and community organizations.
  • Plan, organize, and attend engagement events at core schools and community groups. Drive the deployment of additional resources to support by utilizing alumni and other members of the business.
  • Plan, organize, and execute recruiting events such as information sessions, networking events, and interviews at assigned GMF location(s).
  • Support plan execution by proactively searching, identifying, and networking with active and passive job seekers for vacancies. Conduct and participate in phone and face-to-face interviews as needed.



Reports to: Recruiting Supervisor/Recruiting Manager

  • Complete understanding of the recruitment, pre-employment and post-employment process.
  • Should have working knowledge of statutory regulations pertaining to recruiting, such as, but not limited to, anti-discrimination laws, pre-employment screenings, interview techniques/limitations, and special accommodations related to the position.
  • Complete understanding of individual hiring manager’s expectations of the recruitment process to include: job requirements, desired job posting locations, salary structure, required managers to be involved in the interview process and the date the position is expected to be filled.
  • Complete understanding of the GM Financial pre-employment process, policies and procedures, and benefits package is required.    



  • Excellent consultative, communication, interpersonal and networking skills are a must.
  • Must demonstrate a team-oriented, collaborative nature.
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations and make sound decisions while meeting time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to manage competing demands while being extremely adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with leading small scale talent acquisition projects.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to multi-task and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing and recruiting for a diverse number of business units.
  • Must have the ability to work with all levels of individuals.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills are required to build and maintain relationships with managers at various levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS); posting open requisitions, tracking candidate activity and maintaining compliance with required data fields.
  • Strong technical aptitude; ability to navigate multiple systems such as the Google platform and all social sourcing tools in addition to Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. 


  • Should have a minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience as a recruiter, preferably with a strong background in high volume recruiting. Industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with University/College recruitment and community and military engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to build deep relationships with candidates considered high value targets by the business.   
  • Demonstrated experience with iCIMS a plus.
  • Strong experience with developing and executing sourcing strategies.
  • Extensive background in high volume recruiting a must.
  • Experience deploying, administering and interpreting various assessment tools a plus.
  • Experience counseling hiring managers regarding recruiting strategies and practices that support the goals and direction of the organization.
  • Professional and leadership level recruiting experiences preferred.
  • Strong professional presence and solid business acumen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business/related field or equivalent experience preferred.  



  • Office environments to include corporate headquarters and call centers.
  • Subject to stressful situations arising from timelines, and management of multiple requisitions.
  • Must be able to travel by car or by plane with overnight stays.
  • Work extended hours.
