Overview

The Collections Support Clerk I performs general office duties and assists in the collection effort. This team member has contact with Company departments, as well as some outside agencies.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Execute day-to-day operational strategies and actively contribute to center performance objectives.
  • Support center and company initiatives and demonstrate an understanding of business needs.
  • Ensure actions are in compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Contribute to a cooperative environment, maintain an open mind and remain positive concerning change.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and multitask to meet all deadlines.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all corporate and operational policies, including obtaining appropriate approvals as required.
  • Proactively present potential setbacks to the appropriate person to prevent future barriers.
  • Document accurately and demonstrate technical proficiency.
  • Handle unexpected tasks without becoming derailed.
  • Provide backup support as needed.
  • Adhere to the attendance and break policy.
  • Maximize productive time, manage workloads and accurately complete assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate and share best practices.
  • Develop professional internal and external business relationships.
  • Represent GM Financial professionally within the center and community.

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES

  • Attend and actively participate in training sessions and team/department meetings.
  • Perform related duties, as needed or directed.

Direct Reports: None

Reports to: Team Leader Collections

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of P.C. Tools or other software programs.

Skill

  • Accurate data entry, typing and ten-key skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with employees of all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to use appropriate analysis, judgment and logic related to immediate scope of duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Possess effective time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including, but not limited to, Windows and the Internet.
  • Skills necessary to operate various pieces of office equipment, such as but not limited to, fax machines, copy machines, and etc.
  • Self-motivated while actively participating in a team environment.

Experience

  •    Previous experience in collections or finance office preferred
  •    High school degree or equivalent required

WORK CONDITIONS

Call Center/Normal office environment, subject to stress in relation to daily workload requiring attention and other established performance criteria.

Must be able to work any schedule of hours that meets business needs including overtime
