The Senior Front-End Web Developer sets the standard in development practices related to the front-end stack and serves as a key technology visionary and leader to the development team at large. This developer has experience building medium to large, dynamic web applications of moderate to high complexity using modern design patterns and tools. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application and supporting the development team to ensure the team’s overall success.



  • Available as a key technical resource contact when discussing implementation of new code initiatives
  • Develops web applications with a combination of languages/frameworks appropriate for the task at hand
  • Helps to ensure that other front-end developers are meeting team standards, teaches and assists when introducing or learning new technologies
  • Empowered to make key design decisions
  • Empowered to approve code merges and deployments
  • Proactively recommend workflow and system changes/enhancements
  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot layout and scripting issues across a variety of web browsers and devices



  • Web site maintenance -- update and develop front-end content and design across all GM Financial web properties
  • Communicate technical issues or project details to Information Technology teams
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as necessary



Reports to the Front-End Web Development Manager



  •  Proficient understanding of Adobe Marketing Cloud software
  • Proficient understanding of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Proficient understanding of HTL and AEM components
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
  • Proficient understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
  • Proficient knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image
  • Proficient understanding of Gulp.js/Grunt.js, Bootstrap framework



  • Ability to multi-task and maintain constant productivity, take project ownership, be creative, have diplomacy, and the ability to deal with change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Excellent computer skills are required
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers
  • Must understand SEO principles and ensure that applications adhere to them
  • Ability to identify cross-browser compatibility issues and find ways to work around them



  •  At least 5 years in a web development related field
  • Experience in a computer-related field with demonstrated proficiency in content management, web development, and web page layout and design



Normal office environment. Must be able to adapt to constantly changing priorities.
