Overview

The Funding Operations Funder is responsible for reviewing motor vehicle contract documentation for completeness and compliance with state and federal laws. The Funder will conduct direct verifications with external entities, including consumers, dealers and others, to validate the accuracy of stated employment, income, insurance, collateral, and other loan approval terms. The Funder will be responsible for analyzing all gathered information to ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures and credit stipulations. The Funder is responsible for all outlined functions within the funding process upon receipt of the funding package until funding completion and/or return. Based on this analysis, they will make the final decision to bring the loan on to the GM Financial portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Review motor vehicle contract documentation for completeness and compliance with state and federal laws; and adherence to internal company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct verifications with external entities, including consumers, dealers and others, to validate employment, income, insurance, collateral, and other approval terms.
  • Analyze and assess information gathered and use effective judgment to detect and avoid fraudulent activity and ensure adherence to corporate policies, procedures and credit stipulations on assigned contracts.
  • Communicate and interact, both written and verbally, with a wide array of audiences in a professional, concise and positive manner.
  • Leverage built relationships, customer service techniques, and a high level of call control to expedite the receipt of missing information and/or documentation.
  • Utilize time-management and multi-tasking techniques to work all contracts assigned
  • Understand and overcome obstacles that negatively impact customer satisfaction to dealerships, applicants, and internal partners.
  • Proactively manage time, balance daily workflow, incorporate negotiation skills, and demonstrate consistent follow up to ensure service deliverables are consistently met.
  • Recognize opportunities, and expedite escalated issues in a timely manner for further review to help maximize our process efficiency and contribute to the aforementioned service deliverables.
  • Understand company objectives by consistently meeting company standards for overall loan production.
  • Understand team objectives and how the individual team member contributes to the team goal.
  • Work diligently to help team reach goals, including assisting other teams in the department as needed.
  • Display interpersonal skills necessary to promote team environment and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Provide recommendations to management for improving satisfaction, process efficiencies or procedures.
  • Maintain attention to detail to ensure loan processing is accurate and within compliance.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to: ACF Funding Operations Supervisor
  • Subordinates: None

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted office practices, including constructively interacting with a variety of people and situations
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and credit processing in a consumer finance/bank environment
  • Basic knowledge of credit laws and regulations as well as the Company’s underwriting and funding policies
  • Basic understanding of loan origination process and use of appropriate analysis, judgment and logic when solving problems and making decisions
  • Knowledge of consumer credit reports
  • Annual Funding Certification courses and successful testing
  • Accurate data entry and 10-key skills required
  • PC/Windows knowledge required. Computer skills which include the ability to utilize multiple application programs and utilize search tools to find information

Experience

  • 1+ years of loan processing experience in finance/credit related industry preferred
  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; additional work experience will be considered in lieu of degree

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Fast-paced environment, subject to stressful situations as they relate to daily deadlines, dealing with vendors, customers, credit centers, dealers and other departments
  • Working overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required to meet company needs
