Overview

The Credit Investigation Specialist - CVL is responsible for performing accurate, detailed, and timely pre-underwriting research and validations, and thoroughly documenting results in the underwriting system(s) of record, on Business Customers and Guarantors applying for commercial vehicle retail and lease financing. In addition, this position requires flexibility in performing various assigned ad-hoc requests and tasks as needed to support general Commercial Vehicle Lending (CVL) activities and responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Request and capture Dunn & Bradstreet business reports and personal credit bureau reports within the CVL underwriting system(s) on Business Customers and Guarantors.
  • Perform Lexis Nexis searches and capture results within the CVL underwriting system(s) on Business Customers and Guarantors.
  • Accurately research Secretary of State and/or DNBi websites on CVL Business Customers to validate business legitimacy, status and identify company Owners/Principals/Officers if available, and record results in the CVL underwriting system(s).
  • Conduct OFAC research of all identified Owners/Principles/Officers using Bridger Insight, and document results in the CVL underwriting system(s).
  • Perform research to identify any existing/previous GM Financial vehicle loans/leases originated in either the CVL Business Customer’s and/or Guarantor’s name(s) and document results in the CVL underwriting system(s).
  • Work with the CVL funding department to initiate the manual transfer of approved CVL applications to contract funding status within the CVL underwriting system(s) on in-house CVL contract packages.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests and tasks as assigned.

Reports to: –Dealer Experience Manager - CVL

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of vehicle finance operations with emphasis in captive auto finance loan and lease product offerings to consumer/commercial borrowers.
  • Working knowledge in the use of vehicle finance originations/funding systems to process applications/contracts.
  • General knowledge of the vehicle financing process flow from dealer application submittal, credit analysis and decisioning, through contract funding a plus.

  • Familiarity with business and consumer credit reports a plus.

  • Familiarity of browser-based tools, such as Secretary of State websites, DNBi, Lexis Nexis and Bridger Insight a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills a must.
  • Fast learner with the ability to be flexible and positively adapt to change in a dynamic working environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical skills in the general use of computer-based software and applications a plus.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Experience 

  • Automotive finance experience preferred.
  • High School diploma required. College Degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
