Overview

The Cyber Security Architectural Engineer is responsible for design and implementation of information security systems and recommending / developing security measures to protect information against unauthorized data modification or loss. Network security engineering, troubleshooting (break fix), incident response and implementation of security policies / procedures are some of the areas that this individual is engaged in on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Provides technical leadership and direction for the Cyber Security Architectural Engineering team and the greater IT infrastructure group.
  • Works on the development, design, implementation, and documentation of various security infrastructure solutions. Must possess strong network design and documentation skills, and be able to work independently to achieve project goals, and collaborate with other IT infrastructure teams when necessary.
  • Will be responsible for the identification of new products, arranging proof of concepts, demo's, trainings, as well as being involved in the procurement process of new solutions.
  • This is a fast paced and dynamic work environment with abundant opportunities to get hands on experience with best of breed security technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will be proficient in one or more of the following technologies:
  • Firewall, Proxies, IPS/IDS, Firewall compliance tools, DDOS, SSLV, Wireshark, VPN, and other supporting tools.
  • Participation in on-call rotation (one week per every 8 - 10 weeks)
  • Occasional operational responsibilities including: Firewall rule preparation / staging, Proxy support, and VPN support as well as providing escalation support for some production outages.

Reports to:  Cyber Security Architecture Manager

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Advanced technical skills in information security as it relates to server security, client security, network communications, and data storage.
  • Comprehends the concepts around content filtering, vulnerability and application scanning, anti-malware, web server security, network segmentation, database security and wireless security.
  • Strong network security knowledge to include more than one of the following: remote access and site-to-site VPN, firewalls, DMZ architecture, network monitoring, intrusion detection and prevention, NAC, WAF, DDoS mitigation, and advanced threat emulation technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, DHCP, DNS, local and wide area networks, and operating system concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of wide area network security as it pertains to networking protocols and connectivity to/from outside resources (switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and authentication methods).

Skills

  • Experience in setting appropriate priorities for tasks to be accomplished based on project plans and management priorities are required.
  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that's understandable for non-technical audiences.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment and offer knowledgeable advice.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years in networking or Cyber Security preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or related field) or equivalent experience is recommended.
  • At least one of the following technical certifications is highly preferred: CISSP, CCSE, CCNP-Security, GIAC, CEH, CPTS or equivalent.
  • Hands on experience supporting security requirements of a large, global enterprise environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment may be subject to fast paced situations as it relates to project coordination and communication. Some after-hours work and on call support will be required.
