  • Overview

    The Training Consultant - Sales is responsible for fostering a sales environment within GM Financial by providing on the job sales coaching, training and product updates in order to help Sales and Credit employees achieve their team’s volume and profitability goals and improve the efficiencies.



    • Develop and deliver Sales training content and communication.
    • Provide Sales and Credit with on the job sales training and coaching to include sales process and product education.
    • Create standard processes and procedures for Sales and Credit dealer market and management strategies.
    • Develop and implement an inside sales strategy and process for marketing remote dealers with a centralized team.
    • Provide training associated with new product launches, including product knowledge, sales techniques, etc.
    • Work closely with VP’s, RSM’s and RCM’s to seek out training opportunities in each region.
    • Assess regional needs and conduct appropriate training or workshops as needed through most appropriate channel (one-on-one, webcast, onsite)
    • Facilitate best practice sharing and additional communication between sales and credit.
    • Assess overall sales training needs.
    • Track results after training visits to determine impact; provide feedback to dealer services leadership.
    • Provide input to the Dealer Services Training team on the design, customization, and development of new courses and job aids.
    • Work with additional departments to gather and disseminate appropriate sales information.

    • Knowledge of sales process and sales methodology
    • Knowledge of CRM tools
    • Knowledge of automotive finance industry
    • Knowledge of adult learning theory


    • Ability to work independently and to coach DRM’s and Credit Analysts.
    • Strong group facilitation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated PC skills, which includes strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • High degree of flexibility and tolerance for change.
    • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to effectively present concepts and ideas.
    • Ability to instruct and coach others.


    • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in work experience.
    • Two years presentation/training/platform experience preferred.
    • Two years experience in a credit role preferred.
    • Five years experience in sales or a sales support function preferred.


    • 50% travel required.
