Overview

The Contract Specialist I will coordinate the preparation of legal contracts, the administration of contract proposals, and maintain contract files. The Contract Specialist I will evaluate contractual provisions to ensure business requirements are adequately represented, service levels expectations are addressed and cost commitments are thoroughly documented and understood by the department. This team member interacts with most internal departments at all levels of the organization and with external vendors.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Participate in the development of the organization's contracts. Anticipate contract issues/actions and provide contractual guidance to technical, and business personnel.
  • Review and analyze new contracts and services to ensure compliance with company objectives and standards.
  • Make recommendations and implement process and procedure improvements.
  • Maintain and monitor contract files to ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Act as liaison for supplier and company communication.
  • Gather supplier information from other company departments, as well as outside vendors.

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:

  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Promote a cooperative and production work environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to: Contracts Administration Manager, AVP Contracts

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Using basic software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Lotus, Access, Internet, Email)
  • Working knowledge of contract development, contract related duties and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing related duties and responsibilities.

 

Skills

  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with vendors and internal customers.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate quotes and proposals.
  • Problem solver and action oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, highly motivated and creative.

 

Experience

  • 2-4 years’ experience as a contract professional or legal experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Juris Doctor preferred.
