Overview

The Commercial Credit Analyst II -Underwriting completes the financial analysis of automotive dealerships’ financial statements to prepare credit proposals for floorplan credit lines, term loans, real estate loans and revolving lines of credit while ensuring corporate compliance and risk management. The Underwriting Analyst provides appropriate recommendations with supporting documentation to mitigate risk.  

Responsibilities

  • Accurately analyze financial statements, income statements and the cash flow of automotive dealerships and affiliates
  • Interfacing and building rapport with dealership customers and internal/external stakeholders to obtain data and information to complete analysis.
  • Prepare accurate and concise credit proposals/modifications for management review to determine if the dealership customer qualifies for the extension of credit facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Will serve as a mentor to Commercial Credit Analyst I    

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to Manager Commercial Credit - Underwriting

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles required.
  • Thorough understanding of automotive dealership operations preferred.  
  • Proficient in intermediate MS Word and Excel applications.    

 

Skills

  • Strong financial analytical skills required, including but not limited to: financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, fixed charge coverage ratio calculation, reconciliation of tax returns to financial statements, analysis of retained earnings adjustments, and bank statement reconciliations.
  • Independent decision making/problem solving skills required.      
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.  
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to adapt to change quickly, productively manage daily workflow and organize tasks to meet tight deadlines.

 Experience

  • Three to five years of related experience in financial analysis and underwriting of commercial business accounts preferred.
  • Experience in automotive dealership commercial lending environment preferred.      
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; several years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • High energy and fast paced work environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Work schedule may occasionally include some evenings or weekends.
