Overview

The Purchasing Manager directs purchasing functions, receives and grants approval for the purchases of goods and services, evaluates best cost, quality, and delivery alternatives, and facilitates vendor contract review and approval. The Purchasing Manager has an active role in maintaining and enhancing internal controls. This position interacts with all internal departments at all levels of the organization and with external vendors.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating and directing the work of direct reports.
  • Develop goals and objectives for direct reports.
  • Identify and ensure that significant recurring processes/procedures are fully documented.
  • Make recommendations and implement process and procedure improvements.
  • Promote a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Ensures all efforts are made to acquire goods/services in a timely manner.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to: AVP Purchasing

Direct Reports: Buyer II

Qualifications

Knowledge:    

  • Understanding of MSFT Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Advanced experience with Oracle ERP or SAP applications.
  • Working knowledge of Purchasing related duties and responsibilities. 
  • Familiar with Accounts Payable practice and procedures.

Skills:      

  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with vendors and internal customers.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data.
  • Problem solver and action oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to lead and delegate appropriately.
  • Possess strong work ethic and organization skills.
  • Able to make independent decisions and work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, highly motivated and creative. 

Experience:      

  • 8+ years related purchasing experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience in Purchasing role
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business Admin, Finance or related field.

WORK CONDITION:

Normal office environment.
