About the Risk Management Credit Risk Analytics Team

The Risk Management Credit Risk Analytics team is responsible for developing and maintaining analytically based solutions to manage, monitor and quantify credit risk, set credit policy, and evaluate credit structure, credit execution, and credit performance for GM Financial’s growing auto loan and lease portfolios. The team supports multiple departments including North American Consumer Credit and Sales Operations, Commercial Vehicle Lending, and Pricing and Product Development.

Responsibilities

BASIC FUNCTION:

The VP Credit Risk Analytics is responsible for developing, directing and monitoring sophisticated credit risk management strategies associated with loan acquisition activities. The position is also involved in leading and developing credit analysis to support credit policy, credit procedures, market analysis, product testing and identification of emerging trends. Additionally, the VP Credit Risk Analytics is responsible for summarizing and reporting credit risk information to a variety of internal clients as well as interacting with other departments in the interest of achieving the overall company objectives.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead multiple teams focused on auto loan and lease origination credit risk analysis, providing effective organizational management and leadership
  • Oversee credit risk monitoring and analysis processes and resource allocation
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure highest standards of quality, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated data analysis methods and models
  • Assess credit risk related to loan and lease originations including but not limited to credit structure, credit demographics, and credit execution ensuring risk based origination strategies are properly developed and executed
  • Develop risk management strategies that utilize technology based decision tools as well as support pricing and market research efforts
  • Partner with and provide recommendations on the appropriate application of data analysis and risk management techniques to origination credit policies and strategies to Senior and Executive leadership

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Skills      

  • Effective written and verbal presentation skills with an ability to communicate well with and Senior and Executive Management
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Capable of managing multiple and varied projects, including the ability to coordinate numerous tasks in a time sensitive environment, under pressure, while meeting deadlines and maintaining a big-picture perspective
  • Demonstrated quantitative data analysis skills with the ability to apply complex financial and statistical principles and identify emerging business trends
  • Proven training, leadership, and team development skills

Knowledge      

  • Substantial credit risk analysis experience at a management level including but not limited to;
    • Data analysis
    • Credit risk modeling
    • Strategic planning
  • Extensive knowledge of finance, statistics, economics, and consumer credit
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with technical systems, rational datasets, data warehouses, data mining, and data analysis techniques
  • Solid understanding if credit bureaus and the structure of their credit files
  • Advanced skills and experience with SAS, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Experience      

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree (preferred) in Finance, Economics, Business, MIS, or other quantitative field
  • 7+ years of consumer credit risk analysis experience, with auto credit risk experience in an OEM captive finance company environment strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of experience managing and leading a team of data analysts
